Dourish and Day (Winners of the Gold Award for best Letting Agent in the West Midlands) have seen an upsurge in female tenants who independently seem to be taking the lettings market by storm. Pro-active, financially stable and settled they make a new market demographic that landlords are keen to get on board with. Ellie Bell founder of Dourish and Day Lettings states ‘This new generation of female tenants are leading the way and our landlords are really keen to get on board. I’ve seen so many female tenants recently take a standard rental property and turn it into a real home. They have invested their own time and sometimes their own money into transforming property to suit them and their children with the landlord’s blessing. We’ve also worked with landlord and tenants to come up with a mutually agreeable plan for future renovation works to benefit both parties with landlords and tenants both contributing on the understanding this will be a long-term agreement.’

Dourish and Day are a new wave of letting agent who have put customer service before cost and centred their business ethos on looking after both landlord and tenant. Why? The reason is simple. Tenants who feel secure, who have a long-term future in a property will take greater care of it and remain longer. The longer a tenant lives in a property the less cost involved for the landlord in void periods, re-let fees and utility bills.

‘All landlords want a ‘good’ tenant. From my experience of working with landlords this is someone who pays their rent on time and actively looks after the property, using common sense to deal with maintenance but raising the red flag when needed to deal with larger problems.’ said Ellie Bell.
